Google Plus: Tips and Tricks

Google Plus (aka Google+), Google's new social network, might offer the right mix of sharing and privacy to woo you away from your Facebook account. If you don't know how to use it, though, it's just a confusing mess of circles and contacts. So we've assembled a few tips to help you get started. (If you aren't on Google Plus yet, try our Google Plus invite trick.)

Tweak your email notification options

By default, Google Plus will spam your Gmail account with notifications for practically anything involving your new account. You can go to the Google Account options to uncheck all of the ones you don't want to get, thereby reducing your Gmail traffic considerably.

Change your profile's field-sharing settings. Your Google Account has certain basic fields that it can share with anyone--but you don't have to go along with maximum sharing. Open your Google Account Profile and privacy settings, click Edit visibility on profile, and then click the individual profile fields and determine how public you want to make them.

Disable resharing. Google Plus may make it easy for you to segregate who you share your information with, but your connections have no such limitations, meaning that something you share with a select few can still spread like wildfire across your networks. Nevertheless, you can disable resharing of a certain post after posting it: Just click the arrow in the upper-right-hand corner of the post and then click Disable resharing.

Check your Incoming feed. Unlike Facebook, Google Plus lets people share things with you even if you're not following them. Consequently you'll want to check your Incoming feed now and then to see whether you're missing out on anything interesting from someone you don't follow. Think of it as a spam folder that occasionally contains something interesting.

Use the Your Circles option while sharing. Google Plus's Circles system is great for letting you use your Plus account to set barriers between the various groups of people you want to share things with. If most of what you share on Google Plus isn't especially privacy-sensitive, however, use the Your Circles sharing option to automatically share items with all of your circles and avoid the trouble of clicking each individual circle.

Start some Sparks. In addition to following people, you can search for interesting stuff to share about particular topics in the Sparks section on the side menu of the main page. Click Sparks, and search for things that you're interested in or browse through the featured topics; if you want to pin a search on your sidebar for easy future access, click the Add Interest button under the search field.

Click through profile pictures. You can easily cycle through other people's profile pics by clicking on them.

Add some basic formatting. As with Google Talk and Google Buzz, you can add basic text styles to some of your Google Plus text. Paired asterisks (*text*) make bold text, paired underscores (_text_) make italics, and paired dashes (-text-) make strikethroughs.

Internet Explorer 8 , Tips and Tricks for Web Browser

Internet Explorer 8 is the latest release in the browser area from the Microsoft. Internet Exporer 8 has many features that enable you to do virtually everything you needed straight from that. The new microsoft IE8 also has some hidden tips and tricks wih it and recently microsoft itself revealed the latest tips and tricks for the Internet Explorer 8.

1. Personalise the Title bar

By default title bar setting, screen's top most part will display the title of the webpage which followed by a Text. You can now change this to whatever you like, Eg: TechWorld IE8 – the best place to find latest tech updates." You can change this by ediiting the windows registry - first you should take a backup of your system first in case of a wrong entry, also make sure you close all Internet Explorer windows and follow the steps.

If you are using Windows XP, press Start -> Run and type "regedit" and hit "Enter" key. In cas of Windows Vista and Windows 7, Goto Start , there type "regedit" and then press "Enter" key.

After the Registry Editor opens press the + sign next to HKEY_ CURRENT_USER, then double click on Software > Microsoft > Internet Explorer > Main.

There you will find a long keyvalue on the right hand side and you have to right click in any whitespace in the right hand pane and to select 'New>String Value', save it as a Window Title. Then you will see a new null string coresponding to the new String Value, there you have to double-click the registry entry, type anything you like in Value Data box and press OK.

Close the Registry Editor and start IE8 and you should see the new magic in the title bar.

2. Maximize screen space

Other hidden feature offered by the new Internet Explorer 8 is the extendabile screen size. The menu bar in the IE is somewhat useful to the user but at the same time it takes some valuable space on your screen. Most of the people don't know how to remove that Menu bar and how to bring it back when needed?

It can be done by checking/Unchecking the menu bar option in the Options. For that select View > Toolbars > Menu Bar. You can also remove and bring back the Menu bar by simly pressing the 'Alt' key.

3. Faster Search

Search Engines will provide the appropriate results and recommendations to a particular query? This can be easily done from any page in the webbrowser simply by typing a question mark, followed by a space, followed by your search terms into the address box (where you would normally type the web address). Ensure that you don't press Return after typing the query in the address bar.

By doing the above step you will see a list of the most common searches, which may help you find what you were looking for.

eg:- ? Dell Vostro 1500 accessories

4. Save paper and ink when printing

When a case comes like if you have to print a webpage and you don't need all the images and contents in that webpage then it will results in th wastage of your paper space and printer ink. The new Internet Explorer comes with a solution for this and you can use the developer tools to get rid of those problems. To activate the feature, press F12 on any web page and you'll see a new window open up.

Also try selecting View > Link Paths. You can see all of the links, and select them easily for copying to the clipboard.

5. Browse more easily on netbooks

If you are using a small netbook PC, then it will makes problems in viewing a webpage since the screen is a small one. But the problem can be solved by simply pressing the 'F11' key and here comes the new magic of IE8. It will make the page bigger and switches IE8 into full-screen mode, removing all trace of the browser and enables the user to view the web page in the entire screen.

You can use all the controls of the browser by simply moving mouse over the missing parts of the screen that are hidden. You also can go to the normal setting by again pressing the 'F11' key.

6. Edit header and footer on printouts

Microsoft Internet Exporer 8 also offers some control over the header and footer of the printout. This can be controlled by choosing File > Page Setup (if the File menu is not shown, press Alt once). There you can also control the allignment of the Footer and Header such as the web address, page title, page number, total number of pages, or a custom value where you can enter whatever you like in the printout.

7. InPrivate Browsing mode

The Internet Explorer 8 also comes with a hidden feature which is known as InPrivate Browsing. The new InPrivate Browsing feature which removes almost all the traces of your browsing, including history, temporary files and log-in data. This is somewhat related to the incognito feature in the Google Chrome Web Browser.

8. Master your add-ons

Internet Explorer 8 also introduced new Accelerator Concept ehich enables the users to perform a number of useful functions just by highlighting a piece of text on a web page. Although IE8 comes with a standard set of accelerators preinstalled, you can find many more (and also other add-ons such as web slices, visual searches and plug-ins) at http://ieaddons.com.

You can control them by going to Tools > Manage Add-ons. You'll see a list of all currently-loaded add-ons by default but you can change this to show all add-ons by pressing the button under Show. You can disable any add-on, by simply clicking on it and press the Disable button.

9. Increase your download limit

Internet Explorer 8 comes with a default setting of 2 simultaneous download which helps to use your bandwidth very efficiently. But now a days the internet speeds are go beyond very high and now you can increase the number of downloads same time and also increasse your speed. Microsoft is providing a simple wizard to increase the download limit to 10. Visit http://tinyurl.com/de3w72 and click Fix this problem.

10. Solve any problem

If there is any problem with Internet Explorer 8 just like crashing then it may be some problem with the add-ons. you can check this by running the browser with all the add-ons switched off and you can control that addon and will be easy to fix it. Also Internet Explorer loads very quickly without add-ons switched on.

Another tip is that You can add a prefix to your Internet Explorer shortcut to enable it to open in a sterile mode, free of add-ons and settings that may cause conflicts. This can be achieved by creating a shortcut of IE and by right-clicking on it and selecting Properties, then add –extoff after "iexplore.exe" in the target box. There is an alternate method in case of using using Windows XP press Start > Run, enter iexplore –extoff into the box and press 'Enter' and if you're using Windows Vista or Windows 7, press Start then type iexplore –extoff into the search box and press 'Enter'.

CAMLESS ENGINE WITH ELECTRO-MECHANICAL VALVE ACTUATOR

Seminar Abstract

The cam has been an integral part of the IC engine from its invention. The cam controls the breathing channels of the IC engines, that is, the valves through which the fuel air mixture (in SI engines) or air (in CI engines) is supplied and exhaust driven out.

Besieged by demands for better fuel economy, more power, and less pollution, motor engineers around the world are pursuing a radical camless design that promises to deliver the internal-combustion engine s biggest efficiency improvement in years. The aim of all this effort is liberation from a constraint that has handcuffed performance since the birth of the internal-combustion engine more than a century ago. Camless engine technology is soon to be a reality for commercial vehicles. In the camless valvetrain, the valve motion is controlled directly by a valve actuator - there s no camshaft or connecting mechanisms. Precise electronic circuit controls the operation of the mechanism, thus bringing in more flexibility and accuracy in opening and closing the valves. The seminar looks at the working of the electronically controlled camless engine with electro-mechanical valve actuator, its general features and benefits over conventional engine.

The engines powering today s vehicles, whether they burn gasoline or diesel fuel, rely on a system of valves to admit fuel and air to the cylinders and to let exhaust gases escape after combustion. Rotating steel camshafts with precision-machined egg-shaped lobes, or cams, are the hard-tooled brains of the system. They push open the valves at the proper time and guide their closure, typically through an arrangement of pushrods, rocker arms, and other hardware. Stiff springs return the valves to their closed position.

Blogging Tips:-Maintain a Balance of Articles on a Blog.

Maintaining balance between articles on the blog is a hard thing to do.All proffesional bloggers maintain balance between their articles on the blog. While writing articles there is a must of maintaining balance between different topics that you focus on.Maintaining Balance between articles increases readability of your blog and also the blog readers.Readers range from person to person, be sure to know what most of your readers like on your blog and make at least 5 majorities and write content based on the things they have liked on your blog like Blogging, Earn Money Online. This can help you keep all types of readers sticked to your blog. You can check what type of content your visitors like in a very easy way.

You must be tracking your blog’s stats through Google Analytics,Histats or something similar to that. So what you do is pay close attention to the pages that have gotten the most hits and the most comments,in other words the most famous articles. That will help you know what type of content your readers like on your blog. Since there will be variation in what they like, you keep writing on different categories in a cycle or at least once in a while.

People think that writing an article everyday is a must, whereas I beleive it just varies from blog to blog. There is no need of writing posts all the day.You hav to write two or three posts weekly, but all the posts should be written in simple language and should be done by yourself. If your blog is a personel one then wrting posts all day should be good.In that case it just doesn’t matter you can say what ever you want. But if your blog is particularly a Make Money Online blog or related to Search Engine Optimization or Internet Marketing, there is no must of writing everyday.

Also you have to include links of prevoious articles written in your blog which is related to the current article. But there is something you can do to make it just as good. If you keep blogging about Make money online, a time will come when you will run out of content, so a better approach would be to choose at least 5 categories related to your blog and write in turns for each of them, or maybe even favoring one off the other depending on the conditions.
Be sure to write at least twice a week, so that your readers don’t get the image that the blog is too much out-dated.Updation of the blog at regular intervals give you some good impressions by the readers and the search engines.

The quality and quantity of your articles should be based upon this:
“The lesser you write, make sure the quality of the article is just as much to cover up any gap.”
The more delay you put in make sure the quality of the next article be just as good. Your articles should leave the readers asking for more, that is all that matters to help maintain a proper balance in articles.

Blogging Tips: Submitting your URL to Search Engines

All people want their Blog/Website to be included in search results from search engines. However, many are not aware about the fact that their Blog’s URL has to be submitted to the directories of search engines in order to be included in search results. Search Engines update information from websites by web crawlers, and if your website is in their directory then they will also update information from your blog, which could help your blog hold a position in search results.

Steps to Add your URL to Search Engines
  • Open the search engine where you want your website to be added.
  • Type “Add URL” in the search box and hit search. It would probably be the first five links that would contain information on adding your URL to the Search Engine.
  • Click the most appropriate link and it will straight away take you to the form. Enter information such as Web address, keywords, category etc..
  • Do not forget to enter key words (If asked) because it can help you to get a better position in search results.
  • Also choose category (If asked) because that too can help your blog to be more specified and targeted to users.

Being listed in search engines is very important as it can drive a lot of targetted traffic to your website. this is infact the first step in search engine optimization.Note that the more you add your url to different sites, the more better your position in a search result.

Add your URL here.

Blogging Tips: Increase your Page Rank

Website's Page Rank is a rank given to a website showing how important it is on the web. The rank is given on a scale of 10 and so usually most websites have a Page Rank of between 3-6, which is very good. So far the only website that I have seen with a Page Rank of 10 is Google. Not even yahoo has page rank 10. A good page rank is a very good way of telling the importance of a website to some one especially an advertiser as that is a full-form proof. By the way, page rank is calculated by Google, making use of their algorithm the Page rank is calculated at their end.

How the Page Rank is Calculated?
Page rank is calculated with a kind of voting system, where one out-going link from a website to another one counts as a vote. However, some weight is also applied in the voting system. That is, if a website with Page Rank 6 is linking to this website, that will have more impact on this website’s Page Rank rather than a website with Page Rank 3 linking here. The picture below exactly describes the meaning of page rank.

How to get a good Page Rank?
Previously, when this blog started it had no Page Rank just like an average website. But once it was in their system and just went dead, it had a page rank of 0.Page ranks are updated every 3 months officially, whereas they are in process all the time in google’s system.Simple theory behind it is to add your url to other websites.

First of all, you should make an aim for a page rank, I would say that a page rank between 4 - 6 would be ideal. Now, what you have to do basically is to have as many incoming links as possible and as less outgoing links as possible, because an incoming link gives you a part of the page rank of the website you’re being linked from whereas an outgoing link just shares your current page rank with the website you’re linking to.

Also you have to add your link to some forums, blogs as comments. That will help you to get some visitors also. You add links of your site to other site having page rank more than you, otherwise it is of no use. Just try to get a link back from as many websites with a page rank and remember, the more it is, the better it is. A link back from a Page Rank 5 maybe worth 3 link-backs from a Page Rank 4.So u try to get link back from a site that have higher Page Rank as possible.

Try getting your link in some way on websites and you can be on your road to a good page rank. You can start by commenting on blogs, take this one for instance, here you can get an easy link back for becoming a regular commenter. One last tip that I can offer you is that don’t get frustrated during your link-building campaign because page ranks are updated after 3 months and results may not be immediate so remain patient.

Windows is not customizable in a way that Linux is.For one,the user interface, while similar in concept, varies in detail from distribution to distribution.

Linux and Windows differ in many aspects...

Graphical Mode Interface
The Linux GUI is optional while the Windows GUI is an integral component of the OS; speed, efficiency and reliability are all increased by running a server instance of Linux without a GUI, something that server versions of Windows can not do. The detached nature of the Linux GUI makes remote control and remote administration of a Linux computer simpler and more natural than a Windows computer.

Text Mode Interface

Secondly the command prompts of these operating systems are quite different. In general, the command interpreters in the Windows 9x series are very similar to each other and the NT class versions of Windows (NT, 2000, XP) also have similar command interpreters. There are, however differences between a Windows 9x command interpreter and one in an NT class flavor of Windows.Linux, like all versions of UNIX, supports multiple command interpreters, but it usually uses one called BASH (Bourne Again Shell). Others are the Korn shell, the Bourne shell, ash, and the C shell (pun, no doubt, intended).

Cost

Cost is the main thind that make differ linux from Windows. While you have to pay some hundred dollars for a new version of Windows, you can simply go and download Linux. As it comes from the nature of Linux, there are no manuals or simple installers for the free version, however. You really have to know what you are doing while using this free package. There are also some easy automated packages of Linux for low prices, as well. In contrast, once you have purchased Linux, you can run it on any number of computers for no additional charge. Also u can make copy of linux, but not with windows.

Installing the Operating System

Installing Windows is very easy while linux is not.We hav to take an extra care while installing linux, otherwise whole harddisk will be formatted. One thing that Linux can do that Windows can not, is run from a CD. To run Windows, it has to first be installed to your hard disk. Normally Linux also runs from a hard disk, but there are quite a few versions of Linux that run completely from a CD without having to be installed to a hard disk. The term for this is a "Live" CD.

Application Software

The only area where Windows beats Linux in this "competition" is the software availability. As it was mentioned above, most of the software releases are configured for Windows. If you are using Linux, you have to emulate Windows with a special software called 'WINE' and then you can use your windows based programs. Another option can be to install Windows as a subsystem to Linux which takes all administrative abilities of Windows and gives them to Linux. There is more application software available for Windows.

Viruses and Spyware

There are many types of malicious software programs. The most common types are referred to as Viruses and Spyware. The security issues with Windows, as most of you already know, are the biggest cons of Microsoft. Most of the malicious files, spyware, adware programs deal with Windows. You generally do not deal with these kinds of unwanted circumstances unless you are working with Windows. The user-id and password protection for Windows can also be easily bypassed, whereas Linux offers a strong protection.

Users and Passwords

Both Linux and Windows 2000/XP require a userid and password and boot time. That said, Windows XP supports users without a password (a very bad idea), I'm not sure if Linux does.

Security Report: Windows vs Linux
BugsAll software has and will have bugs(programming mistakes). Linux has a reputation for fewer bugs than Windows, but it certainly has its fair share. This is a difficult thing to judge and finding an impartial source on this subject is also difficult.Bugs can be fixed faster in Linux, but that things have slowed down.
Choosing Linux vs. Windows
Vista, newer version of windows experience stinks. It is expensive, buggy, slow and suffers from both hardware and software incompatibilities. There seems to be a growing backlash against Vista, which is changing this topic of choosing Linux vs. Windows. Some Windows people are opting to stick with XP and avoid Vista.Among linux, fedora core is the best one.Now ubuntu ultimate edition,a version that is edited by someone is available. According to me ubuntu ultimate edition have more better appearence. But when compared to windows almost all versions of linux have better appearence and have customizable effects.

Winows is more user friendly than linux. The using of linux is some what difficult than windows. So choosing the os will depend on all the above things.Remind that linux is free and windows is more expensive.According to me linux is more better to choose.

To be safe from Keyloggers

As i am an engineering student from kerala, I sometimes travel without my laptop and need to access password protected websites from internet cafes or Hostel and IT centres.I worry about whether these public computers have Keyloggers installed.

By using the windows onscreen keyoard accessibility utility, can i safely prevent keyloggers' recording my passwords? If the onscreen keboard simply creates keypress events that can still be intercepted by keyloggers, then can copy or paste the keylogger threat?Or do Keyloggers also record the contents of the windows clipboard?Do u have another suggestion for safety entering passwords at public computers?

The On-screen Keyboard utility is designed to let mobility-impaired users enter small amounts of text, typically by using a specialized pointing device. For maximum compatibility,it works by sending simulated keystrokes to the actie application. I tried it with a number of commercial keyloggers that i use in antispyware testing, and it was no help at all:The simulated keystrokes were captured just as keystrokes would be.

You could conceivably launch the Character Map utility and build your passwordby double-clicking characters.Once you had built the whole password you had click the copy button and paste it into the password-entry box.Unfourtunately, keyloggers can do a lot more than merely log keystrokes. Most also record everything that gets copied to clipboard and many also snap screenshots of program activity .Character Map,then is not a solution.

One possibility that seems hopeful is this:Type your password with extra charcters in it and then use the mouse to highlight and delete the middle fourdots.Or type pla2s3s4w5o6r7d8 and deleat every other dot . a keylogger would still record aall of the keystrokes that make up your password, but they will be mixed with other unrelated keystrokes.

If you need to use a public pc, your best option for entering passwords is to use a mobile password management/from filling application such as Siber system Pass2Go. Pass2Go runs off a USB memory key and protects your passwords behind a master password .Even if the master password is compromised , its useless to the thief unless he has your USb key,too . its not a foolproof solution , but will evade hacking tools that rely on capturing keyboard events.
You should do your best to avoid using non-secure computers . Even if you keep a key-logger from snagging your password , it might still take screenshots of key financial info. Your best bet is to implement a high degree of security on your laptop and resign yourself to lugging the darn thing along.
