Atlast the wait is over and Motorola in co-operation with Verizon introduced the DROID smartphone officially. Motorola DROID smartphone is the first to run the Android 2.0 Eclair Operating system. The Motorola DROID smartphone is powered by 550MHz ARM Cortex A8 and comes with 256M RAM and a dedicated PowerVR GPU.The new Motorola DROID smartphone features a 3.7 inch touchscreen display that supports a resolution of 480x854 and a QWERTY keyboard. Other features of Motorola DROID smartphone includes 5 Megapixel camera with Dual LED and auto-focus features, WiFi 802.11b/g connectivity, GPS/A-GPS support and Bluetooth 2.1+EDR.
Verizon-Motorola DROID android smartphone comes with lot of applications and google services which includes the latest Google Map Navigation Beta application. Accelerometer, Proximity sensor, ambient light sensor as well as eCompass applications are also preinstalled in the Android smartphone.
DROID by Motorola will be available in the United States exclusively at Verizon Wireless Communications Stores and online on Friday, Nov. 6, for $199.99 with a new two-year customer agreement after a $100 mail-in rebate.
