Recently a 16-layer optical disc that can store up to 400GB data is launched by Pioneer. The new multi-layer disc is based on the Blu-ray technology.It is made of new material of reflective layers of Dielectric.
Pioneer said that the new disc can be read on current Blu-ray players as the specifications of the pick-up head (PUH) of the disc and of blank BD discs are same.Each layer of the disc will have a 25GB capacity.
Pioneer Technology is growing very fastly.Now they were planning to make rewritable discs between 2010 and 2012 and a 1 TB disc in 2013.
