The interesting news that comes out from the Indian automobile field is that the iconic scooter from the Italian vehicle maker Piaggio, Vespa is now all set to get relaunched by the early start of 2012. This new version of the Vespa will be manufactured from Baramati in Maharashtra, and it will have a production capacity of 150,000 units per annum.
The main thing to be heard is that this new Vespa will be available with a 125 cc gearless engine. Vespa had been in India since 1950, when it had a joint venture with the Firodias. Also, the company had tie up with Kanpur-based Lohia Machinery Limited (LML) which broke up in 1999.
Piaggio are having lot of plans for the Indian market as they are going to invest about 30 million Euro ($38 million) for the latest version of Vespa and also they have plan to launch a light commercial vehicle in the category of 0.5 tonne in the next two-three weeks.
