Last week, Hyundai motors unveiled the electric variant of their much accliamed model Hyundai i10. This new hyundai i10 EV has been tagged as the BlueOn because it’s a version of Hyundai’s Blue Drive eco-friendly lineup. This new Hyundai i10 Electric was actually launched on January at the Delhi Auto Expo 2010.
Hyundai i10 Electric has 16 kWh lithium-ion battery pack, where the electricity will be stored. This battery pack is similar to battery powering of cell-phones and other electronic devices. Also the 49kW (66.6 PS) electric motor is situated under the hood of new i10 electric which will power its front wheels. It should be noted that Hyundai has equipped the BlueOn with a Virtual Engine Sound System (VESS) which generates an artificial engine sound to let pedestrians know the car is approaching.
Hyundai i10 Electric will run for 160 kilometers with a top speed of 130 km/h on the full charge of battery. Hyundai i10 Electric can run for 160 km/h because it has dual recharging cycles and it would take approximately five hours to be completely charged. This new Hyundai i10 BlueOn is expected to get soon into the Indian market and will be priced in the range of Rs 4-5 lakhs.
