Rendezvous Sports bid $333.33 million to get Kochi as the new franchise to make the Indian Premier League (IPL) a 10-team affair from the 2011 season. Announcing the bid results here, IPL chairman and commissioner Lalit Modi said The consortium from Kerala, Rendezvous Group, decided on Kochi as its base.
Shailendra Geykvad and Vivek Venugopal were the owners of the kerala IPL team. They bought the team for Rs. 1,533.32 crores today through bidding. Sources indicate that Cabinet minister Shashi Tharoor supported Rendezvous Group well. No other details about the Kerala team is out yet.
