Blackberry is all set to compete with the Apple's tablet device with its latest tablet - BlackBerry PlayBook. Blackberry officialy anounced its Playbook tablet device by joining hands with the Research In Motion (RIM) Company. The new playbook tablet will be unvieled at the BlackBerry DEVCON 2010. Here are the specifications and the features of the Blackberry PlayBook tablet device.
BlackBerry PlayBook tablet comes with powerful features that make it to be a perfect competor to the Apple iPad and the Samsung Galaxy tablets. BlackBerry Playbook tablet runs on the BlackBerry OS that is developed on the QNX Neutrino microkernel architecture. It sports a 7-inch WSVGA capacitive touchscreen display which features full multi-touch and gesture support and a 1024 x 600 pixel resolution.
BlackBerry's latest tablet- PlayBook comes powered with a powerful 1GHz ARM Cortex-A9 dual-core processor and a 1 GB RAM memory. Other PlayBook tablet specifications include 3 MP front and a 5 MP rear HD cameras which offers (1080p)HD vidoe recording, Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n, Bluetooth 2.1 + EDR, microHDMI and MicroUSB ports, and stereo speakers. It also supports 1080p HD Video playback, Audio playback(MP3, AAC, WMA), WebKit/HTML-5, Adobe Flash Player 10.1 and Adobe Mobile AIR. BlackBerry PlayBook comes preloaded with applications like Adobe Reader, POSIX, OpenGL and Java.
While coming to the design features of the Blackberry PlayBook, it measures about 130mm x 193mm x 10mm in dimensions and weighs just 400 grams. It has got a thin portable design. As per the reports, the 3G and 4G models of the Blackberry Playbook will be introduced soon and the current Blackberry PlayBook tablet model will available by the 2011 Q1.

Great specs for the PlayBook no doubt, but what about the following questions?
1. How mature is the BlackBerry Tablet OS given that it's version 1, no smartphone experience, etc.
2. User Interface: you cannot compete with the iPad without an amazing user interface. We haven't seen anything yet…
3. Price
4. Battery life – with such impressive specs, that could be a problematic area.
5. Apps: is it going to be purely web (given that Flash and Html5 are supported)? Or Java? How many apps will be available when the product is officially released?
