As the processor war is going between AMD and Intel, Intel takes some advantage with the new Core i7 , most fastest processor and the popular Core 2 Duo processors. Now in addition to these processors , Intel is coming with the new Core i5 and Core i7 processors. The new Core i5 and Core i7 processors are based on the 45nm manufacturing technology.
Intel's Core i5 and Core i7 processors are codenamed as Lynnfield Core i5 750 , Nehalem architecture based Core i7 860 and 870 processors. This is the first core i5 processor from Intel.
The new Intel Core i5 750 CPU is a Quad Core processor which is clocked at 2.66 GHz and comes with an 8MB Intel Smart Cache and 1333MHz Front Side Bus. The new Intel Core i5 750 CPU is capable of overclocking upto 3.2 GHz and is mades compatible with Intel P55 Express Chipset.
Intel's new Core i5 processor is equipped with the 64-bit processing support and Thermal Design Power rating of 95Watts. Intel Core i5 750 CPU is the new version of Core i7 900 series CPUS whose third third memory channel si removed from Nehalem Core i7 architecture and thereby stripped the HyperThreading capabilities.Intel Core i7 860 CPU is clocked at 2.80 GHz while the other Intel Core i7 870 CPU is cloaked at 2.93 GHz and both are equipped with four cores and is able to support upto eight processing threads at a time. Both Intel Core i7 CPUs are equipped with the TDP rating of 95watts and Both the two Core i7 chips also have third memory channel disabled just similar to the Intel Core i5 750 CPU. Both the Intel's Core i7 and Core i5 chips comes integrated with two memory controllers along with 16-lane PCI-Express 2.0 graphics port.
All these new Intel processors are now available for shipping and the new Intel Core 15 750 CPU is priced at $196 per 1000 units while the Intel Core i7 860 is priced at $284 and Core i7 870 is priced at $562 per 1000 units.
