Last day i found an amazing news on laptop.A group of Indian students are coming out with a laptop cheaper than most pocket calculators.The laptop which only cost about Rs 500.The laptop is mainly developed for educational purposes.
The Rs.500 laptop,will be displayed in Tirupati on 3 February, at the launch of the National Mission on Education through Information and Communication Technology.With the help of companies like Semiconductor Complex, the students from Vellore Institute of Technology, scientists in Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore and IIT-Madras developed the cheapest laptop.
Rs.500 laptop comes with 2Gb memory,wifi,Ethernet and it only consumes a mere 2W of power. Just like the price tag,the specifications of the 500 rupees laptop are attractive.The laptop is based on the Linux based GUI.Other attractive feature of the laptop is that from the government online prtal Sakshat,Macmillan,Tata McGraw Hill,Prentice-Hall and Vikas books can be accessed for free.
Goverment is giving support to the laptop by giving 2.5 lakhs per instituion for 10Kbps connection.The new cheap laptop is worthwhile,because it eill benefit a large number of people and students of rural area of the country.Also the laptop will be a succsess in other developing countries also.
